What is RoleystoneNet?

RoleystoneNET is a local community website established in 2005. The domain name that was available at the time was Roleystone.net - hence the name of this community network.

Originally written by Chris Horgan and maintained by Diane Horgan, a local family who settled in Roleystone 1976, RoleystoneNET originally contained many services such as

  • a local Forum (what people used before the days of Social media)
  • local online classifieds
  • local event calendar
  • and a directory listing of all the local businesses
  • Firewatch - a live map of hotspots and bushfire information
  • The Roleystone Markets first webpage
  • The Roleystone Courier's first webpage and online archive. They now have their own website here...

With Social media becoming more popular, Google Business taking over business listings, and the changing website industry, these features on RoleystoneNet have become redundant and have been discontinued.

What's left to do?

RoleystoneNET is still a source of General information

  • Community Contacts: Listing of Local Organisations.
  • Local Webs: Links to the other local Roleystone websites.
  • Event Calendar of what's happening locally.
  • General Information
  • Archival information

This site has always been a non-profit site run by locals (the Horgan family) for locals.

Details...

The Roleystone Markets was formed as a sub committe to the Roleystone Community Garden and with sponsorship and support of our Community Bank - Bendigo Bank. The quarterly themed markets are in line with the changing seasons and each market offers unique activities to the time of year.

Careful consideration is taken when accepting vendors who provide a distinctive mix of quality art, craft and produce to the Roleystone Markets.

The Market is establishing itself as a fixture to the Perth Market Scene and a "can't miss destination" for the local and Perth community as a whole.

Dates for the next Market days can be found on www.roleystonemarkets.org.au
