Seniors Housing Investigations
The Roleystone Karragullen Retirement Living Project survey summary report has been finalised and presented to the projects community committee. This report was undertaken by Trudi Hodges CEO of Dale Cottages, a member of the committee and to whom we are most thankful for the many hours that she has given to this project.
The report quite clearly indicates that there is a need and wide support for seniors retirement living accommodation in Roleystone. There were some very interesting and positive information that has been identified in the survey. The majority of the respondents have been living in our community for over 25 years – 96 have been here over 30 years the longest time in resident 85 years. 80% of those respondents indicated they were in good health which is great news. All respondents to the survey will be receiving a letter within the next 2 weeks outlining further information.
A public meeting is to be held late in October at a time and place to be advertised where this survey will be discussed further and an opportunity for input from the wider community.Members of the committee will in the next few weeks be seeking political support from the State Government to support this need identified by our community.
Following the public meeting it is anticipated we will be requiring a town planner to assist us prepare a rezoning application for the site which will then go forward to the City of Armadale for their approval. If there is anyone who can assist us with this in any way it would be greatly appreciated.
